Donn H. Wray

Donn's practice concentrates in the representation of automotive businesses and environmental work, especially recovery of insurance or other funding for leaking underground storage tank ("LUST") cleanups.

For over 20 years, a major part of Donn's practice has been the representation of dealerships, focusing on consumer defense, environmental and regulatory issues. Many businesses and landowners have problems with the costs associated with the cleanup of leaking underground storage tanks. Donn has substantial experience in obtaining cost recovery for such cleanups from insurance companies and other responsible parties. "We do not try to make new law in this area. We try to go the path of least resistance to get the most cost-effective resolution for people and seek remedies that are in accordance with existing law," he says.

Donn also has experience in class action litigation, having served as lead counsel in a class action brought against the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet, resulting in recovery of more than $5 million in unconstitutionally collected motor vehicle use tax.

Donn earned his juris doctor from the Valparaiso University School of Law. He is a member of Stewart & Irwin's management committee.

"I'm a car guy." Donn owns a '37 Cord Westchester, a true "Hoosier classic" and a '58 Buick Super (that his grandfather bought new). Both cars are "drivers." The Cord spends winter vacation on display in Kokomo's Automotive Heritage museum.

"I enjoy being part of the automotive economy by helping dealers, both new and used, with all sorts of issues. As an automotive lawyer, I like my front row view of the action."
