JEFF HALBERT, SHAREHOLDER
SUCCESSFULLY SWIMS THE ENGLISH CHANNEL

Jeff Halbert, Shareholder began his journey to swim the English Channel by departing Indianapolis Monday, August, 11th.  Jeff arrived in London where he will met with his Boat Pilot, Mike Oram, to make final preparations for his swim.  Jeff and two friends, Adam Dawkins, a Jasper Cardiologist and Will Simmons, an Engineer with Beckman Coulter were scheduled to swim the English Channel at some point in time between August 13th and 18th.   Jeff’s successful swim was August 17th.

Jeff, Adam and Will trained for almost a year and a half in preparation of fulfilling their dream of swimming the 21 mile Channel by training at Morse Reservoir. Very few people have actually taken on the English Channel, numbers reported are around 2500.  In fact, more people have climbed Mt. Everest than have swum the Channel.  The English Channel is the busiest shipping channel in the world, hence, coordination with the British and French Coast Guards was necessary for a successful crossing.  The athletes successfully made it across the channel on separates dates.  Each swimmer was escorted by a private boat with crew members that were comprised of friends and family.

Upon arriving in London, Jeff caught a train to Dover, where he practiced in the harbor while awaiting his ok to take on one of the greatest athletic challenges in the world.
